Simple Slow Cooker Pear Butter Recipe

Move over apple butter, and say hello to this creamy pear butter. Made like it’s… sister? Cousin? This lightly sweetened pear butter recipe can be made in the crock pot – (this is how I did it), and what I was left with was a creamy smooth pear butter, with hints of vanilla and orange.

Serve your slow cooker pear butter recipe on toast, or on a fresh bagel with cream cheese. Sweeten up your oatmeal with a dollop or two of scrumptious spread and enjoy.

What you will need:

  • 3 lbs ripe pears; peeled, cored and cut into chunks
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
  • 1 Tbsp liquid honey
  • 1 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp fresh squeezed orange juice
  • 2 1 inch slices of orange peel
  • dash of salt

How To Make Slow Cooker Pear Butter

Turn your crock pot on high, toss everything in and let cook for about 3 hours. Stir occasionally.

Once the pears are soft remove them from the crock pot. Place them in a bowl.

Using an immersion blender blend the pears up, adding a tablespoon of cooking liquid as needed to get a smooth, creamy texture.

Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a month.

Serve on toast, a bagel with cream cheese or with your morning oatmeal.
