Move over apple butter, and say hello to this creamy pear butter. Made like it’s… sister? Cousin? This lightly sweetened pear butter recipe can be made in the crock pot – (this is how I did it), and what I was left with was a creamy smooth pear butter, with hints of vanilla and orange.
Serve your slow cooker pear butter recipe on toast, or on a fresh bagel with cream cheese. Sweeten up your oatmeal with a dollop or two of scrumptious spread and enjoy.
Simple Slow Cooker Pear Butter Recipe
Makes a great holiday gift and stores great for up to a month in the fridge.
What you will need:
- 3 lbs ripe pears; peeled, cored and cut into chunks
- 1/2 cup cold water
- 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
- 1 Tbsp liquid honey
- 1 Tbsp brown sugar
- 2 Tbsp fresh squeezed orange juice
- 2 1 inch slices of orange peel
- dash of salt
How To Make Slow Cooker Pear Butter
Turn your crock pot on high, toss everything in and let cook for about 3 hours. Stir occasionally.
Once the pears are soft remove them from the crock pot. Place them in a bowl.
Using an immersion blender blend the pears up, adding a tablespoon of cooking liquid as needed to get a smooth, creamy texture.
Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a month.
